The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy was very pleased to host a Christmas Fun Day for the Hednesford F.C. Girl’s Under 11’s Team at the Hayes Green Community Centre on Saturday 13th December. On the last lesson of term the Academy held a special Seasonal themed lesson with lots of Christmassy drama activities and games. The Girls Under 11’s team were invited along to support them in their efforts to raise money for equipment and for fun end to the Year. All students donated to a collection to help the team raise money to buy winter jackets to keep the warm on these chilly winter days. The Club’s youth teams are run on a voluntary basis and rely on the support of the local community for their kit and training equipment. The footballers joined the Academy students in a range of creative activities including a Dance Drama titled ‘It’s Christmas’ and an improvised piece called ‘Lost in the Department Store’, where students are encouraged to use their imaginations and create their own plays with an emphasis on enhancing communication skills while having lots of fun. Hednesford Girl’s Under 11’s Team Manager, Carol Philpott said, ‘This has been a great team building exercise for the girls. They usually just communicate by shouting to each other across the football field, so it has been good for them to have the chance to interact with each other in a different way’. |
